Seniors Designation…Heard of it? I am a big advocate of continuing education as you may know. One designation you can find on Realtor.org that I’ve not heard of before is the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®). Have you heard of it? It’s a new one for me, and it sounds like a genius idea! The senior market is a growing segment of our client base…20% of the population is 50+ years old. As you may guess, buyers and sellers in this age range have some unique needs, financial situations and concerns. Acquiring a knowledge and sensitivity to these issues can make you not only better able to make an older client more comfortable, but you’ll also be able to better serve them as their agent. It’s called the SRES designation. I bet you’re going to hear more about it! Realtor.org reports that over 15,000 Realtors have earned this designation already. By studying (and of course passing!) this course, you’ll gain competence in dealing with issues like reverse mortgages, using 401k money in real estate transactions, how real estate deals factor into estate planning and of course a lot more.
